Schipol (AMS) to Brugee

I will be arriving at Schipol and taking the train to Brugee. Can I, should I purchase my train ticket at Schipol or do it on-line before arriving at AMS? And, if I buy my ticket before arrival am I stuck with taking the specific train I bought the ticket for?

Thank you

I would just buy a ticket on arrival and use the IC train and not the Eurostar.

I realize that it's not possible for some routings from the US, but can you not fly to Brussels instead? You could fly home from Amsterdam if you're going there after Belgium.

There are two routes you can take: Eurostar to either Antwerpen and Brussel, and IC from there, or ECD to, again, either Antwerpen or Brussel, and then the same IC service.

For the ECD service you can buy flexible tickets, so you could just buy a ticket Schiphol - Brugge in advance on www.nsinternational.com. Make sure you buy a ticket that only involves the Eurocity Direct (ECD) and IC services, and buy a Full Flex ticket. With that ticket you can take any train on the route, so you just board at Schiphol and find yourself a seat.
