I want to take the train in to Amsterdam from Schiphol but the new automated ticket machines look daunting: automated and only take Euro coins. Has anyone experienced these yet?

You can also buy the ticket from the person at the ticket window. I did it.

Simply use the ticket windows. The machines aren't new though they have been around for a while. The machines come any many varieties, some just take chip & pin cards, some just coin, some bills and coin, come cards can bills and coin....and every other possible combination:)
