Schengen question for multi leg international travel

I don't recall ever having flown from one Schengen country to another before my international leg back to Canada. So, I am wondering if it treats arrival times like national travel in North America or not? i.e. do I need to be 3 hours prior to my first (Venice) flight or a reduced time prior? I will be transferring through Frankfurt for my flight to Canada.
Thanks.

I see no need to treat it other than as a domestic flight, which it is. You will have no added security or Passport controls in Venice (just the normal). However, on landing in Frankfurt, unless you have hours, I would proceed to your gate. You will likely go through some type of border control, then additional security possibly, and into the International area of the terminal, and from there to your gate. Someone that has been through Frankfurt recently may be able to be more specific and speak to any delays.

Thanks Paul. That just lets me know how to deal with when to leave Venice. No inconveniently long wait in Frankfurt so I'll just head to the Int'l section from there.

Hopefully, both your flights in Frankfurt will use Concourses A/Z (Z is one floor up from A in the same building). Then you will come in on a Schengen flight to an A, gate then go through outgoing Schengen passport check on you way up to the next floor, to a Z gate, for your departure flight.

You shouldn't have to worry about security. Now, if you come in and go out on different concourses or terminals, all bets are off.

If you know your flight numbers, you can also look up flight arrivals and departures on the Frankfurt Airport website. That will tell you the gate for a particular day, but these can vary, so check over several days.

In general, Lufthansa and other Star Alliance airlines will use concourses A/Z, B, and C in Terminal 1. Other airlines are likely to use concourses D and E of Terminal 2.
