My family is flying to Munich then driving thru Switzerland and into Italy. Looking for scenic driving routes from Mucich to Lucerne to Como to Genoa to Florence to Rome to Venice and finally to Milan. Interested in coastal routes, avoiding the boring highways. Any suggestions? Much appreciated! Thank you!
Munich to Lucerne: Take freeway from Munich to Lindau, which is an island city in the huge lage of Constance. Visit the town and the harbor. Continue on coastal route (always stay on the norther, German shore as the view of the alpine panorama is stunning from there) towards Langenargen, Wasserburg (lovely towns with little castles on the waterfront) to Friedrichshafen. Have a snack on the embankment. Best view of the alps from there. Continue on to Meersburg, walk up and down the castle-like old town. Take ferry boat to Konstanz, visit the harbor and old town. From Constance it's about a 2 hours drive to Lucerne.
