Scanrail: is it worth it?

Hi,
I'm considering buying a ScanRail for my upcoming trip to Scandinavia. I've never done this before, so I don't know how to use it or whether it's worth it. Looking at the prices on this website, it looks like my trip (Stockholm to Oslo, then Bergen or Myrdal, and back again, then ferry to Helsinki, and back to Stockholm) will cost about $580 total, while Scanrail is $310. Is it easy to use railpass, are there many additional fees? Any advice would be very welcome!
Thanks!

Marie,

Used Scanrail passes last year for a trip to Scandanavia. Because of changes in our schedule, we probably did not get full value out of it. We had planned on going to Oslo on the overnight from Stockholm but it as completely booked on a Thursday so we went to Copenhagen instead. The trip to Bergen is covered unless you are planning to to the "Norway in a Nutshell" tour in RS's book. That is not covered by ScanRail. Check out FlyNordic.com for flights within the area. Flew with them from Stockholm to Lulea and back for considerably less than the people (on the same plane) with SAS tickets. Also flew Copenhagen to Tallin for less than 60 euros one way. Got a decent discount on Silja lines from Helsinki to Stockholm at the end of the trip with the ScanRail card. Upgrading to an outside cabin was around 100 euros for the two of us.
