Interesting. They dropped that route sometime after 2007. I used to fly with them enough in the 1990’s, often enough that my travel partner and I were invited to a celebration of the 50 years of their partnership with Boeing, and the opening of the “polar route”. Only time I have been on the top level of the Columbia Tower.

I last flew with them in 2007, and their service had slipped a lot—they were more like a budget carrier. And no longer an all-Boeing fleet.

This will open up new options for people who like Stat Alliance partners United, Lufthansa, etc.).

Yes, SAS left Star Alliance as of this month. Thankfully, my 2 August flights were just before their switch to the Delta Alliance, so I got my United miles and benefits.

It has been 15 years since SAS dropped this route. I am excited that we have the option to fly them instead of Delta, but can use our Delta miles.

They had a quite a dip in the noughties but has since gotten a lot better. So don't be afraid to try them again.

Although SAS has never had an all-Boeing fleet. They've been known for having a very diverse fleet but are now heading towards a mostly-Airbus fleet.
