That's my itinerary. The thing that confuses me is what trains to use, when. Highspeed, night, reservations, tickets, passes, firs tor second class - what's best? There are multiple locations to arrive in place like Venice (inland or not) and Florence. I am a female who will be travelling alone so I want to anticipate what I will be doing and what is most convenient and safe. Any tips/cost estimations?
Hi Annie. I'll get you started. Don't buy passes; buy tickets either in advance (discount but you will be locked in to a date and time) or when you get there. For Venice (venezia s lucia) to Florence (firenze s m novella) and Florence to Rome (roma termini), use high speed trains, they run many times per day. look at schedules and prices at trenitalia.com. mini fare is if you buy today online; base fare is if you wait and buy when you are there. schedules show several months in advance, if going after that, use an eariler date to get the idea. 2nd class is fine. Rome to Paris will be at least ten hours by train; you may want to fly that one; easyjet is a reliable airline on that route. Enjoy your trip!
