We will be travelling from Salzburg to Brugge at the end of August and I had been planning on purchasing an advanced point-to-point ticket for under 100Euro per person. The only problem is the journey is about 11-12 hours. I've done some quick checks online and can only find airfare for about $700-$800, all with connecting flights and 7 to 8 hours in length (and these go to Brussels). Are there any alternatives I'm missing, maybe combining a flight to a different destination, with a shorter train? I'm not opposed to the long train ride, but if there's something that can get me there quicker, so the better. Thanks

Tickets don't go on sale yet for August, but right now I am seeing a 3 change, 10 hr train trip, all the way to Brugge, in May for 79€ online from the Bahn.

Lufthansa fly from Munich to Brussels, which would be a relatively short and cheap train ride at each end, but the flight costs look pretty high.
