Where is the most economical place to rent a car for one day while based in Salzburg? Train station, airport or the place a block away from the train station? If someone has the name of the better rental business, I'd be happy for thenrecommendation.

The most economical place would be at a downtown location. Obviously, after you get the car you then need to maneuver the streets to get out of the city. The easiest location would be the airport. I just checked the AutoEurope website, and they quoted $115 for one day (usually they have a minimum rental of 3 days) at either a downtown or airport location. Usually the airport location is more. So, I would call them directly and double check this info. On the Hertz website, a one day rental from a downtown location seems to be about $74.
