Salt Lake City airport transfer time

We have a choice between transferring at SLC, a transfer time of 2 hours 9 min, or Seattle of 4 hours 30 min. The SLC would get us there earlier in the day, but is 2 hours 9 min enough time?
It is Delta airlines and we are flying to Heathrow if that makes any difference.
Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Yes, Salt Lake City Airport is easy to get through when transferring. It's long but recently renovated, and everything moves pretty quickly. So you should have plenty of time to make your next flight. Plus it's a Delta hub so that makes it even easier.

That's what I would do. 😊

Do you have Global Entry or will you be seated in the front of the plane? Will you have carry on or will you be checking?

I did a transit thru SLC last year (AMS-Spokane) in under 25 minutes and that was with me FORGETTING my suitcase at security and having to backtrack, hahaha. I was so focused on "getting to my plane" with just under an hour's transit time that after security I just sprinted up the escalator. As I got to the top I realized I had picked up my personal item but not my suitcase! I slunk back down the stairs, re-entered the security area like a shamed toddler to face 2 TSA guys with their hands on their hips, LAUGHING and saying...did you forget something? They were SO nice. My fiber supplement had triggered a hand search. ANYWAY, I got going from there quickly and arrived at the Spokane bound gate which was just 2 down from where the International area dumps into the "A" gates just as they were boarding First Class. I was the 4th off the plane in Delta One, have Global Entry, had only hand luggage. I could EASILY have done the transit in 2 hours with time left over.

Does Delta have another flight to your destination that day? I knew I had a back up of another flight about 7PM but preferred to get in at 430 or so.

I've just booked a Delta flight from CDG to Spokane via SLC for April but the flight leaving CDG is a bit earlier than last year so have about 2.5 hours. I won't be in Delta One this time but should have plenty of time even if I check my bag coming back home.

Pam, that's a very funny story! I can totally see myself doing something like that!

That said, I think mistimetotravel is heading from Salt Lake City to Heathrow so she wouldn't be going through customs. 😊

We will be flying from Medford Oregon, to SLC, to Heathrow. We will be in economy class and have carry on only, we think.
And we don’t have global entry.

You should be in good shape with the 2 hour layover. It’s an easy airport to navigate.

Go for SLC. Plenty of time. All Delta flights are in Terminal A. International flights are gate 19/20 not far from the terminal entrance.

Just buy the entire trip as one ticket. The major risk with the connection is if the inbound
flight is delayed and you miss the transatlantic flight to London. With a single ticket, Delta
is obligated to rebook you at no charge. If your connecting flight is on a separate ticket
and you miss the flight to London, you are hosed, or at the least, at the mercy of the airline
to be kind to you.

shoeflyer, the OP has not given any indication that this is not a single ticket. Most people do book single tickets, so I am not sure why you are assuming she did not. She is just asking about the layover time at Salt Lake City. It is my understanding that she is just trying to choose between two flights.
