Safe transportation from Charles De Gaule Airport to hotel in Paris?

Will be arriving at 7pm (in the evening) at Charles De Gaule Airport. Our hotel is located in the LATIN QUARTER. We are 2 women...with 2 medium sized lugages. What would be the best way of getting to our hotel. TAXI, SHUTTLE, METRO??? Please suggest options. THANKS!!!

Rick Steves guide book "Paris-2009" gives lots of good information on the different methods of travel you are interested in.

Bee, with two of you and wrestling luggage, a taxi might be the easiest way to go. I've taken the shuttle before and it's about 29 Euro per person and you have to climb into a minivan. Plus, you'll likely be tired after a long day. I'd be sure to have a snack in my luggage, too, in case you get in later than scheduled and don't feel like finding a restaurant. I think with the RER or metro you'd have to change, there is no direct line from the airport to the Latin Quarter.

The RER & Metro would be cheapest (€8.50/person); but, as Anna says, you would need to make at least one connection. If a station has no escalator, I don't think you'll be happy hauling medium-sized luggage up and down the stairs.

You could take Air France coach (highway bus) #4 directly from CDG to Gare de Lyon. The driver will put your luggage in the bay. The fare is €16.50/person. A taxi from Gare de Lyon to the Latin Quarter would cost around €10-15.

Or you could simply take a taxi all the way. The fare would be around €50 (more if traffic is heavy).

Bee,

As mentioned in previous posts, the France Guidebook has suggestions for reliable and cost effective transportation into Paris. You might have a look at This Page for an example of all the services available.

As Tim mentioned, using the RER "B" and then Metro is one of the easiest options. However, one thing to note is that if you want to buy RER tickets from the automated machines at CDG, you'll need one of the new "chip" credit cards. There is a ticket office there, however it could be VERY busy depending on how many flights are arriving at that time. You might have a look at This Website for more specific details on that option.

You could also take either the Air France or Roissy Buses into Paris, and then use either a Taxi or the Metro to get to the location of your Hotel (details in the Guidebook).

Happy travels!

The Roissybus goes non-stop from CDG to Opera. You have to handle your luggage yourself. The fare is €9.10. That makes Roissybus + taxi cheaper than Air France coach + taxi.
