safe night transportation in Paris

We have tickets to the Eiffel Tower for a later time at night. Our hotel is about 6km from the Eiffel Tower and it shows that it is about a 1 hour walk back to the hotel. What is the safest/affordable way to get back to our hotel that night?

ac,

The first option I'd consider would be the Metro, which is certainly "affordable". There are a couple of Metro stations very close to the Eiffel Tower. I believe the last Metro trains depart about 00:30 (later on weekends), so you'll need to keep that in mind. Without more specific information on where your hotel is located, it's difficult to provide more specific directions.

I went to the ET later at night and left the area about 11:30 pm. I took the metro back to my hotel area and then walked the 3 blocks to my hotel. I'm in my 60's and traveled alone and never felt unsafe.

I have always taken the metro while it's running, even traveling alone. It does sometimes feel rather lonely at that time of night. After the metro closed, I have taken taxis and found them affordable within the city center, such as from Rue Cler to Jardin de Luxembourg for 8 euros.

First off .. safety is not the big issue you may think it is.. for a city its size Paris is very safe.. I have walked around at night.. alone ..

That said it does help if you tell us where your hotel is.. we can give more specific or better answers.

What time is your "later time at night" ticket for, and when are you visiting? It stays light reaaaallllly late here this time of year.

Anyway, what area is your hotel in? I'm hard pressed to think of an area where the metro wouldn't e fine for as long as it is open (that is, about 1 am during the week or to 2 am on weekends). Paris is a very safe city.
