S-Bahn in Berlin

Is a Eurorail pass good on the S-Bahn in Berlin?

Hi, Yes, it says so in the accompanying literature when you receive the Pass. Not just S-Bahn in Berlin but any one of them, Dresden, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, etc.

Which begs the question, why would you burn a precious Eurorail pass day on riding an iexpensive local train, unless its part of a full days train trip.

You asked why would I use a day for a short s-bahn trip, normally the first day in and last day out does not use a day of the pass. Thanks

It is exactly for that reason that I would ride the S-Bahn as part of a full day's train trip, eg., going from Frankfurt-Stuttgart as a last minute decision, then in Stuttgart change to the S-Bahn to my destination, Marbach am Neckar, afterwards back to Frankfurt at the end of the day. Or, as the continuation of a night train that arrives in Hamburg, say 0600. Then later in the day I use the S-Bahn to go out to one of its suburbs, eg. Pinneberg and back.

What Fred just described is why we always buy a pass. I LOVE the freedom of train tavel in Europe. THis years' trip ends in Moscow - should be a challenge. THank you for your replies.
