ryanair rome to paris early morning flight question

We are taking the 6:25 am flight from Ciampino Airport to Paris. Our hotel is near the Colosseum. I know we can take the terravision bus from termini station to the airport but the earliest one leaves at 4:30 am. If it takes 40 minutes to get there, we will arrive at 5:10. Will this be enough to get a bags checked and go through security and passport checks? Should we arrange other transportation? I read somewhere that terravision serves ryanair flights so I hope this is adequate. I am hoping we are not going to need to check bags but are still in the planning phase. Thanks in advance for any info.

Ciampino is tiny. Arriving at 5:10 should be plenty early. I never had a flight that early, but even with those that I arrived a little later in the day (and it was thus more crowded) security never took very long. With Terravision make sure to get to their store near Termini early enough to purchase tickets and such. (On the other hand, you may be taking a taxi to Termini instead of walking - and if that's the case, it may be more convenient just to take the taxi all the way to Ciampino.)

.

Since you will be taking Ryanair, have you read all of their rules very carefully? Because their flights can be very cheap, but you must follow the rules to a T. Didn't print out your boarding pass ahead of time? That's 40€. Is your luggage over their size and/or weight limits? Those are some more charges (and most of the US standard size carry-on is too large). When they say one bag, they mean one bag, not one plus a purse or other personal item. If you haven't already booked this, I would check out what other airlines will take you to Paris - even EasyJet, etc. I have flown Ryanair several times and never had an issue with them, but it's easier to fly them when you have an apartment to leave your things in and can just travel with a backpack.

I don't think you will have to go through a passport check for Rome to Paris; both are within Schengen.

In my experience flying out of Ciampino and elsewhere, Ryanair looked our passports as we checked in (not saying this is an official passport check, of course, but it adds some time to the whole experience). Heading to security there were separate lines for EU citizens and non-EU, or something like that, and our passports were checked at least some of the time. As a warning about Ciampino, there aren't many places to sit after you get through security. You'll probably stand or sit on the floor.

Thank you for the information. It sounds like it won't be too big of a time crunch at the airport and doable whether we decide to check bags or not. Traffic should also be light at that time so trip closer ro 30 rather than 40 minutes. That was my main concern. Regarding carry ons etc, I did fully research the restrictions of carry ons and even checked bags. Compared to some of the "so called cheaper" airlines at home, I still feel less violated with than with the Ryanair policies. The last time I tried to get a cheap ticket on allegiant air, the cost ended up being higher than the major airlines. For Ryanair You can actually have 2 carry ons, albeit smaller than our typical US carry ons. That doesn't surprise me much. A business has to make money somewhere. Thanks again.

"One cabin bag per passenger weighing up to 10kg with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm, plus 1 small bag up to 35 x 20 x 20 cms."* on their website.

Wow, that has changed since last time I flew on Ryanair! TIL. Since you seem versed with the restrictions, you probably know this - but if you do choose to end up checking bags, if you book that ahead of time it will be cheaper than paying for it at the airport.

Ryanair has launched a charm-school campaign so we'll all feel we are guests at Club Med. Sure we will. But the procedures have changed a fair amount and everyone including experienced customers should read the website carefully. Checking in well in advance on-line still remains good advice (for any airline that permits it) and so does purchasing whatever extras you may want. Given the strictness at the gate, believe what the company says about when to reach the airport. They still aren't giving any refunds or rebookings to ticket-holders who step out-of-gounds.

I just read today that United is cracking down on carry ons now. What a coincidence, at least for us, as I was researching the options for new carry on bags. I am finding the task of just taking a carry on for 2 weeks challenging but in a good way and oddly cathartic. Flying on Ryanair is just another piece of the puzzle. I think I read it will be 70 euros if we don't check in online(but we can do this up to 1 month before) and then another 45 euros to check a bag at the airport - wow! 20 euros/bag beforehand is much better but I still have time to see if we will need to do this or not.
