Hi everyone,
I just booked a flight on Ryanair.
It is only allowed to take 1 personal item on board with a basic fair, therefore I purchased their "Plus" option which includes free 20 kg check- in bag and 2 cabin bags.
I also liked that it let me reserve a seat for free; it is a 3 hours flight.
However, I usually only have a small, 20 inches carryon and a purse/tote.
I've never flown with Ryanair and am wondering if 2 cabin bags in the "Plus" option mean that I can take my carryon on board. Does anybody know or flown with them recently?
Thanks.
We did this last April, flying round trip from Frankfurt to Porto. With the Plus option, we could take our backpacks, plus another small bag on board with us. We were walking the Portuguese Camino, so it was important to us not to have to check our bag. Worked perfectly. They only promise space for 90 bags onboard, so with the Plus fare, you get one of those spots.
We measured our bags to make sure they fit the dimensions allowed. Height and width, plus allowed kg.
Thanks Ms. Jo.
If you only have the two pieces, and want to bring them on board, you will need to meet the requirements of the in-cabin bags. This would be the size restrictions of 21" by just under 16" by just under 8" and less than 10 Kg or 22 lbs. This is tight for the typical traveler from the US going to Europe for a couple weeks, especially of you have picked up a couple things along the way. For the personal item, it needs to be small, basically a normal size purse or a laptop, not an overstuffed Day Pack. They do check both weight and size of bags.
Since you already paid for it, just check your "carry-on" and take on your personal item that would likely pass the "carry-on criteria". No concern with checking your bag, the flights are point to point, so very little chance of lost or delayed luggage.
Thank you Paul. You have a good point.
