Ryanair- online check in

I don't know if this has happened to anyone but I didn't realize that the online check in was only an option for those with european passports. Does anyone know how to go from an online check in to an airport check in?
thanks

Whoa...I did the same thing, booked a flight online with Ryanair for me and my daughter from Rome to London at the end of our tour next month. I also chose the online check in, so I guess I also need to straighten that out before I go. I'm glad I saw your post, as I didn't realize only EU passorts applied for that.

If you bought your tickets online the system shouldn't have let you select online check-in without entering an EU passport number. When I have bought tickets from them online I had to take the airport check-in option for that reason. This is from the Ryanair website:
'To qualify for Online Check-in each passenger must present either a valid passport or National Identity Card (Drivinglicences not accepted) , issued by the government of an EU/ European Economic Area (EEA) country'

If you are sure that you are set up for online check-in, you might need to call Ryanair to straighten it out.

Adriana...when you get to the Ryanair checkin, you can ask for a form to refund the charge, since you couldn't take advantage of that website checkin. Whether they actually do send you the money back is not something I've had any experience with. Kathy, how did you get past the button that asks you to "Please confirm you will present a valid EEA/EU passport or valid EU/EEA Government issued National Identity Card at the airport? (Driving Licence not accepted)" I can't get past the booking process to pay if I check "No."

Hey norm,
Do you know if I am going to have to pay an extra fee. Because the website says that to do normal check in you have to pay like 3-4€ and that online check-in is free, which is why i clicked on online check in. thanks

It's impossible to take the on-line check-in unless you also check the box that says you have an EU passport. Since you obviously did that, you may face trouble when you show up to check in. I would contact Ryanair immediately by telephone to straighten this out.

Yes, you do get charged for airport check-in, but as Norm said above, you can apply for a refund of that charge because you were not allowed to choose online check-in. I'm with Norm on this one -- you had to have confirmed that you have an EU passport in order to have chosen online check-in, and that could be a serious problem when you don't have one to present at the airport.

I just re-read the site and it says: To qualify for Online Check-in each passenger must present either a valid passport or National Identity Card, issued by the government of an EU/ European Economic Area (EEA) country which matches the document details printed on their online boarding pass, at both airport security and the departure gate.....

Well the logical either a "valid passport" or National Identity card....... is probably what led me to believe that it was an "either this OR that" statement. I met the first part of that sentence as I do have a valid passport!!

I have a problem anyway, because it also says you can't do online checkin if you're going from Italy to UK.....so their online form doesn't quite do a high level of validation as my booked trip is from Rome to London!!!!

Unfortunately, it's the second part that's critical..."issued by the government of an EU/ European Economic Area (EEA) country."

Adriana,

I don't know if you dealt with this yet, but I fixed my issue by going on Ryanair's website and chose the option to change my reservations. It gives options for adding muscial instruments, baby carriages and so forth, but at the bottom of the list you can add airport check-in and priority check-in. It cost an extra 20 euros to add each for both of us (5 euro for each selection), but it's worth peice of mind. So there's no need to call their call center to fix the issue!! I'm just glad I read your posting.

Thanks to all!

You definately need to get this resolved before arriving at the airport. My brother did the same thing (not sure which airline though) and he and his girlfriend were not allowed on the flight.
