Ryanair: May I use the loo?

Ryanair plans to start flying in July with lots of changes.

Passengers will have to check themselves in, download their boarding pass to a smartphone, take less luggage, wear a face mask, have their temperature checked before the flight and request permission to use the toilet inflight. No cash sales onboard. And don't expect much social distancing on board as the airline says they cant make money that way.

They will hand out a face mask and Depends at the boarding gate?

They will hand out a face mask and Depends at the boarding gate?

Since this is Ryanair they will probably charge €50 per face mask handed out at the gate.

I see nothing wrong with masks and temp checks, I think all airports and airlines will be doing this. I think most already check themselves in and have their boarding pass, that is hardly a change, and trying to prevent a scrum of people standing by the toilet seems logical.

The middle seat issue is a bit of a toss up. another foot or so separation might help, but on the typical Ryanair flight, you have more families, couples, and common groups, than solo travelers, so probably no more risk.

Shades of New Year's Eve in Times Square?
I'm told that Depends are no joke there either! 😳

This whole middle seat business is nonsensical. The British government have already admitted (unofficially of course) that the 2 metre social distance measurement was plucked out of thin air. Evidence has shown that the virus can travel signifcantly further distances depending on the source of it's projection and environmental conditions. having an empty seat between you and your fellow passenger will achieve very little.

As for using the loo, I'm sure I can hold on for two hours if neccessary.

Per the linked article, the bit about the toilet is to prevent people from lining up or crowding around the toilet (and the nearby seats). Sounds like they are going to have the FA manage the crowd, let them know if you have a need, stay in your seat until your turn, whatever, not many details.

It sounds like no standing in line like for the forward located toilets on US airlines. How long is the longest RyanAir flight? Ours was two hours from Krakow to Rome.

It is easy to control. Ring your seat bell, get a number, and someone calls out the next number.

You get a ticket indicating you are number 14 in line for the toilet. Waiting time estimated at 46 minutes. Sorry about the tacos you had before the flight. Good luck.

Kathy, I read about New Year's "enthusiasts" wearing Depends during the celebration. I mean, really? Going in their pants and just letting it sit there for a few hours? As grandpa said, "You begin life in diapers and you end it that way." Full circle.

You do what you have to do and adjust to the circumstances. It is called, "Going with the flow."

Anyone ever consumed too much water/tea/coffee and then had to really gut it out on a bus or other situation where you had to go really bad but couldn't? I had to pee once in a bottle on a bus but I had no choice. No choice, my friends.

This should have been Thread of the Month, even with Mike's TMI.

It's a good question. You can't tell me you haven't had a desperate moment where you had to go and used extreme measures to do so.

Any runners out there? Yeah, you know what I mean.
