Basically, you can check in 3 bags with a combined weight of 15Kg, and take 10Kg into the cabin.

Ryanair don't allow pooling of allowances, so if your bag weighs 17kg, but your husbands only weighs 13Kg you will be charged the excess 2kg.

Things to note about Ryanair :

1. You get what you pay for. If things go wrong you're on your own.

2. Ryanair make their money with the hidden charges on their web site when you book. Be aware of 'Opt out' charges, like their travel Insurance, or the fact that you are charged per bag that you check in. It all mounts up, and the web site is deliberatley design to make it difficult to see the total amount due until after you click 'Pay'.

3. Ryanair are very specific about the size of the bag you can carry into the cabin. If your bag is even just 1cm to large in one direction they will make you check it and charge you extra for the privilege.

4. Get to checkin in plenty of time. Checkin closes 40 minutes before the flight takes off. There are no exceptions if you are late.

I fly regularly with Ryanair in Europe. They are a budget airline for a reason and have a mixed reputation here.

Having said all this i still fly with them because they are cheap. I follow the rules and know where they play tricks, so i haven't had many problems.

Whatever route you're flying, check all airlines. Many people assume the bigger airlines will be more expensive. This may not be the case once you include travel to and from the airport plus all the hidden charges.

As an example..flying between London and Dublin, I found it cheaper in the long run to take BMI from Heathrow than Ryanair from Luton or Stansted.

And, if you book your flight on Ryanair's website, they won't tell you what the excess baggage fee is if you are overweight. You won't know until you get to the airport.

Our experience with Ryanair was very smooth but I knew what to expect because of this forum.

Talking about Ryan Air, I just received an email canceling a flight in Spain and the reason they gave is the Boeing strike. How are these connected?. Might be a good idea to confirm flights with them.
