In the Rick Steves new travel guide of Eastern Europe they say that Ryanair flies from Katowice ( airport 50 miles west of Krakow ) to European destinations. I just bought a ticket from Ryanair from Krakow to Prague, and it does not mention that the airport is in Katowice , I haven't been able to get info from Ryanair as to where that flight takes off from, the ticket simply says Karkow to Prague.
It does appear that John Paul 2 international Airport services the flight number. Can anyone help that has flown Ryanair recently???
Which airport do they use near or in Krakow??
Joan
John Paul 2 is the airport in Krakow where we flew on Ryannair
to Rome two years ago. This new airport opened while were in Krakow and I remember the name as it was a big news story.
It is a short distance outside of Krakow.
Katowice and Krakow are two separate airports, they are actually two separate cities in different regions, if your ticket says Krakow then that is where they are flying from.
Ryanair does indeed fly from Katowice, but there are no flights from that airport to Prague.
You will depart from Kraków John Paul II International Airport.
So, your ticket issued by the airline says Krakow. Some guide book says Katowice. And you are wondering who to trust?
Is there any reason you think the airline does not know from which airports it operates?
Kraków's John Paul II International Airport is located near Kraków, in the village of Balice--6.8 mi. west of the city centre, And Ryanair flies to Prague from there.
I flew from Berlin to Krakow on RyanAir in March of this year and was confused and worried by this exact situation. Would I be stuck 50 miles from Krakow not knowing how to speak Polish?? Turns out that RyanAir does fly into John Paul airport right near the city of Krakow. RyanAir may very well fly into Katowice as well, but that is not where the plane landed.
To be fair to RS and other guidebooks , the auto updating page feature for paper books isn't really available.
