RyanAir Carry On Baggage Dimensions

I will be traveling to Europe in May and have decided to purchase Rick Steves' 21" roll aboard to use as my carry on. Once in Europe I will be travleing on RyanAir several times and I do not want to check a bag. I am aware of the weight limit with RyanAir and I think the roll aboard will be within the size limit, but I want to be sure. Does anyone know if the 21" roll aboard meets the size requirements OK? Thanks to all who respond :)

I too, am traveling on Ryanair and based on their website posting, these are their requirements:
55cm x 40cm x 20cm = 21x15.75x7.87
Weight - 15kgs = 22lbs

I posted a question with regard to all luggage being 8 or 9" versus the required 7.87. I got many responses but most stated that it is just "hit or miss" with whether staff makes you check it or not. I don't find an alternate choice that fits the bill, so like youI will probably buy the smalllest available.

Ryannair's dimensions are:

55cm x 40cm x 20 cm

or

21.6 inches x 15.75 x 7.87

You might get away with luggage thicker than 7-7/8", but if they call you on it, you really have no recourse. They're right, because they stated the maximum size in advance. And remember, they make money off every bag they tell you is too big, and make you check.

A roll-aboard is somewhat rigid ; a convertible is flexible and, if not packed too full, will conform to almost any dimensions.

Besides, when you do have to carry it, and you will, you'll be carrying around an extra 5# with a roll-around.

If you haven't purchased the bag yet, may I suggest you look at the EBags Weekender Wheelie. It doesn't have rigid sides like the RS bag so you can use the cinch straps on the Weekender bag to get it down to that 7 plus inches rule. I have the bag and really like it. (It has hidden backstraps in case you want to put it on your back) and covers for the wheels to keep dirt off your clothing.) There is a waist belt although it doesn't state it on the website.

Thanks to all for your responses. I actually saw the weekender bag on ebay and considered it. Perhaps I'll concsider that, or maybe I will forgo the wheels and stay with the convertable carry on. Happy travels to all :)
