Ryan Air : Tips and suggestions please??

Normally I use EasyJet for my cheap air, but this time I'm using Ryanair.

I noticed that I need to print my boarding ticket at home (online). Good thing I re-read the information, as I was going to assume I check in at the airport.

Are there any suggestions or "need to know" specifically for Ryanair that most airlines don't do? Like specifically asking you to check in online, for example?

I won't be checking in luggage, as we are flying to Newcastle to visit a friend for one day (bringing one change of clothes in a backpack) and we don't need transportation.

You will also want to carefully check their carry-on and check-in rules and times. Read their website stuff. Also note that RyanAir does not fly into or out of any major airport. They fly out of cities or towns nearby major airports. They usually have bus transportation to and from these distant airports. You will want to become familiar with these transportation services. I think that they charge extra for the buses as well.

Depending how long the flight is maybe take a snack or meal with you. Or you can buy something onboard.

Larry I read that I can check in online 15 days prior to my airdate. I'm flying from Dublin and my destination is Newcastle, and my friend is picking us up. Thanks!

Kelly, thanks but my question was asking for quirky things that Ryanair asks of the customers... like specifically asking online check in... and penalizing you if you don't do it online.

It used to be that Ryanair didn't LET you check in online unless you were an EU citizen, so it was good to remind us of the change in rules.

Be aware of Ryanair's VERY strict check-in time. You must be through the line no less than 40 minutes before boarding -- the line closes then, even if there are still people waiting. So be early!

Hi, Michelle. As other have said, just watch the check-in time, and bag restrictions. Double check them before you go.

We just flew them last week, and the on board menu was actually reasonably priced. (5EUR for a sandwich, etc).
