rush passport renewal via private company?

Hi, everyone, Wondering if anyone has used a private company to renew their passport? I found out yesterday that I need to travel to Asia for biz in almost exactly three weeks from today, which is about the time estimate given by the State Dept to expedite my renewal request. (It's cutting very close!) They also won't initiate a two-week rush until two weeks before my documented travel date. I found many private companies that offer faster processing for a fee. I'm willing to pay the fee to make sure that I have my passport in time and to avoid super last-minute processing...but are these companies really legit? They seem so, but it also almost seems too good to be true. Anyone tried them with success (or regrets)? Thanks! Signed, Anxious passport renewalee

I was at one in Los Angeles for some of their other services. While i was there they seemed to be handling quite a number of "rush passport" requests with very short deadlines. Seemed very competent and legit. i was amazed at the very prompt turnaround they were promising. if i did it I would use one i could visit in person- not over the web or phone

The travel agency your company uses may offer this for a fee or have a reliable recommendation. Also, depending on where you are traveling in Asia, you may need a visa (China for sure). And you must have your passport in order to get the Visa.

Yes - the passport companies are legit. A co-worker used one to get a passport for a work trip a couple of years ago. My understanding is that these companies have people who hand deliver your application (including waiting in line) to regional the passport center for processing. The total cost typically includes, Fed Ex costs, the rate for that person to deliver and wait, the State Department fee for expediting processing, and a mark-up/profit for the passport service. Good luck.

A couple of years ago I used passportvisaexpress.com and was very pleased with the quick turn around. Last November I used BCV Visa & Passport Services online to get my Visa for China. This company too was great with a quick turn around time. Just thought I would share my experiences: )

Several of my coworkers have had to use these services for work and never had an issue.
