Rule on how many plastic bags?

Sorry if this has been answered in another thread, but I can't seem to find the answer to my question on the airline website either. I take quite a few prescription medications along with vitamins. I know that the rule is one quart size plastic bag per passenger and that all liquids and gels are to be in the bag. Do medications have to be in the plastic bag also? If so, do they allow for more than one quart size bag for medications? Thanks

All non-prescription liquids, gels, pastes, etc have to be in ONE bag and nothing individual container more than 3.4 oz.

Prescription medication, as long as you have a prescription for it, is okay and should be in a separate bag. You need to let TSA know about it but they shouldn't give you a hard time.

You can't have more than one bag for non-prescription stuff. Pills and solids don't have to be in the bag.

The sign at our local airport says if you can pour it out (liquid), squeeze it out (gel), or spray it out (aerosol) it must go in a single 1 qt bag that you must be able to zip closed.

Pills and other solids don't have to go in any special bag. If you have a larger quantity of a liquid which is medically necessary (either prescription liquid or something like contact lens solution) it should go in a separate bag and you should show it to the security personnel.
