I'm looking at an overnight rail trip at the DB website. There is the couchette option but then there is also something called a sleeperette or Ruhesessel. Has anyone here tried that option and you can better describe this type of accomodation?
A ruhesessel is a seat that reclines. It is kind of like a slightly better version of an airplane seat (but it is NOT a lay flat sleeper). I've never tried one.
It's basically just an oversize reclining chair. Here's a picture: http://tinyurl.com/6q5w94a
I've used the reclining seat option. It is just like an airplane seat and just as uncomfortable. Only difference is you do get more leg room. In any case, it is not a pleasant way to spend the night.
Hi, This sleeperette is much more pleasant than sitting in a compartment for 11-13 hours, worth the price too. If you can sleep on a ten and a half hour flight going over, you should have no problems with a sleeperette.
