We plan to take the Rhine cruise from Koblenz to Rudesheimer on Monday April 13. We understand that Monday is a German holiday. Does that present any transportation problems? What is the best means of transportation to return to Koblenz to retrieve our luggage at the train station and to head to Brussels? Additionally, any suggestions as to accommodations in Koblenz?

The best way (~1 hr) between Rüdesheim and Koblenz is by train. Note, however, that you should take a train that goes along the right bank, through Braubach and St. Goarshsausen, or you will have to take a ferry across the Rhein at Bingen.
Also note that the trip UP the river from Koblenz takes 6 hours vs. the trip down the river, which takes about 4. You might want to train to Rüdesheim and come back on the boat to Koblenz.
