want to day trip to Prague from Amsterdam to see country and then return via night train after four days......any comments or sugestions? use rail pass? Ruth and Jocko

Do NOT buy a railpass. Book everything at www.bahn.de. If you book well in advance (up to 90 days allowed), you can get a Europa-Spezial Niederlande fare as low as €39 for Amsterdam-Berlin and a Europa-Spezial Tschechien fare as low as €29 for Berlin-Prague. You can also get Savings-Night fares for the direct Prague-Amsterdam night train. A bed in a 2-person sleeper can be as cheap as a bunk in a 4-person couchette.

City Nightline has a direct night train. Leaves Amsterdam at 7pm, arrives Prague 9:30am. You can book tickets and print them out at home at www.citynightline.ch
