What is the best way to travel from Rotterdam (cruise ship terminal specifically) to London? We will have fairly heavy luggage - EasyJet's luggage restrictions are expensive! Is the train the best? Any tips?
By rail take the regular IC train from Rotterdam to Brussels. From Brussels transfer to the Eurostar to London St Pancras Station. Total journey time is about 5 hours. Purchase tickets here: http://www.nshispeed.nl/en The sooner you book the cheaper it will be. Have you checked out British Airways? They have one-way fares that range at 94 USD, and probably have less restriction on luggage.
Thank you, Michael. Right now both options look good. The train would be fun for us - don't ever take trains in North America, but British Airways flies right to London City Airport and as you said has more lenient weight restrictions.
You're welcome. I would do the train. You travel from city center to city center. When you factor in time/expense it takes to get from the airports, and security hassles, train is gonna actually be a bit faster, and certainly more relaxing.
Yes, I think that the train looks like the best option. Thanks.
The one caution about the the Gare Du Midi in Brussels where you would make the transfer between the Thalys and Eurostar is to watch your effects carefully!
