We will be ending a cruise in Rotterdam on the morning of Sunday, December 22nd. We'd like to make a stop in Rotterdam and then get quick (and hopefully inexpensive) transportation to catch a flight at the Amsterdam airport for 3 people.
Does anyone have any good transportation options?

There is a virtually continuous parade of slow, medium, and very fast trains every few minutes from Rotterdam Centraal to Schipol station at the airport.
The fairly fast (26 minutes) FYRA trains can cost as little as €7.50, the slow (52 minutes) train can be done for full price of €11.50, or the very fast high price Thalys (19 minutes) is €21 if you can get a seat.
It should be easy to get into Rotterdam from your cruise dock, but I don't know which docks your ship is using. What does your cruise company say?
What will you do with your (maybe very heavy if you are like many cruisers) luggage while you are sightseeing in Rotterdam?
There are fast non-stop trains between Rotterdam Centraal and Schiphol every 15 minutes. They will be called Intercity Direct from Dec. 14th onwards instead of Fyra. You can just buy your ticket before departure. The trip between Roterdam Centraal and Schiphol takes 22 minutes on this high-speed train.
In case you are arriving at the Cruise Terminal facilities, the easiest way for you to manage this is to catch a taxi to the Rotterdam Centraal train station (it is close, less than 3km), leave your luggage on the lockers and go explore the city.

Rotterdam's huge and busy harbour makes the city worth a day or two. There are harbour cruises and a nautical museum, plus the on-going experiments in urban renewal from the war destruction seven decades ago. Nice brown cafes for food and drink, and a good transit system to get you to your train to the airport. Just don't get on the Thalys luxury train if you hold a regional ticket; I got right back off in a hurry.
