I'm planning an upcoming June trip to England= London + up in the Midlands area to see relatives - then down to Stansted & RyanAir to meet a friend in Santiago Spain. I found a great site while researching how to get from place to place called rome2rio.com. I 'm new to this forum, so maybe it's been mentioned before, but to me it was a brilliant discovery. Input where you are and where you want to go and voila! Several routes are suggested including travel time, apprx prices and various modes of travel... Train, bus, car, tube, ferry etc ... And... they have a free app! It has already made a difference in some UK pre-planning and will sure to come in handy in Spain.
cc,
Rome2Rio is frequently mentioned here and a very popular resource with many. While it provides great information, I always double check their transportation suggestions (ie: flights) and there can sometimes be differences.
It is a great planning tool, but as mentioned you need to check pricing, sometimes train tickets can be bought in advance for much less. Great for comparing trains and boats and planes, though.
Yes, I'm sure it pays to double check... thank you both for mentioning it. I got excited because I need to get from Midlands to Stansted and at first the only way seemed to be going back to London and then going to Stansted from there. But R2R also showed me an alternative train (slower but that's ok) as well as a slower & much cheaper bus. What a great site.
I love R2R. I was pleased to see that you can also use it to find out how to walk from one place to another and how long that will take.
R2R is a great website!
However, as mentioned by others above, it's always best to double check as some of the information may not be correct or up to date.
I recently found an error regarding a high speed train that is available in Spain from one city to the next, however R2R was only showing the slow train. I contacted one of their staff members & they fixed the problem!
I agree, Rome2Rio is especially good for preliminary research.
Good work, Priscilla!
I use it all the time to compare different transportation options from one place to another and really like it. I don't trust their prices, they're almost always higher than you can find with some research on the transports own website. I also think their driving times can be misleading, usually on the low side. But they are a great initial research tool.
R2R rocks as a reference tool
I agree, it's a great tool when doing preliminary research.
