Rome Train Stations

Hi-
Traveling to Italy in September and plan on going via high speed train from Rome to Venice. I'm booking our tickets now as to save time and money upon arrival.
We are staying at Via Cassidoro l9 hotel just outside of Vatican City. Can someone tell me which train station we should leave from and how far it is from where we are staying?
Thank you so much in advance.

Google your hotel address and select directions to Roma Termini, and you'll get turn by turn directions, as well as distance.

You'll depart from Roma Termini and arrive into Venezia S. Lucia assuming you're staying on Venice Island and not on the industrial mainland which is Venezia Mestre station.

The only Rome train stations with high speed service to Venice are Roma Termini and Roma Tiburtina. Termini is closer to the Vatican as the crow flies, but may or may not be easier to get to from your accommodation, depending on how you're getting there (bus, metro, taxi).

As Agnes said, look at Google Maps to see how to get to both of these stations from your hotel, and then choose your departure train station accordingly.

What you need to recognize is that the trains do not stop at all stations. Each station services particular routes and train lines. So you pick the train schedule and get to the station that services that line.

kris,

One point to mention is that you may not be able to buy tickets yet for travel in September. There will be a schedule change coming in mid-June, so September schedules may not be posted until then.

As the others have said, you can travel from Roma Termini or Roma Tiburtina to Venezia Santa Lucia. On that route you can either use Trenitalia or the competing Italo Treno. Both offer high speed service, so you can pick whichever one best fits your schedule and pricing. The Italo trains are a bright Maroon colour so you can't miss them.

Your tickets on both rail networks will include compulsory seat reservations, so you'll have an assigned coach (Carrozza) number and assigned seat (Posti) numbers.

In the same situation, I'd just take a Cab from your hotel to Roma Termini. The hotel staff can pre-arrange that for you.
