Rome to Venice and Night Train Safety

My husband and I are planning on taking a night train to save time, is this the most efficient? Should we rent a couchette or spend a little more for a 4 or 2 bed sleeper?
How safe are the sleeping rooms anyway? Is it strange sleeping with other strangers? Do you feel safe? Thanks!

The night train is much slower and if you have any difficulty with noise, I don't reccommend. Just watch your luggage, its pretty safe. And if you do decide bring ear plugs. I would go onj the first train out, you'll sleep much better and its not a very long trip.

Jenny - We love taking the night trains and find it the most efficient way of traveling. We usually take a 2 bed sleeper and never have had any problems with sleeping on the train. We normally have 5 - 7 night trains planned on any given trip to Europe.
