Whats the best way to get from Rome (or Florence) to Southern Turkey? We are trying to start near Bodrum. Any other suggestions as to where to go (or fly into) would be great! thank you.

I like to use www.whichbudget.com to search for budget airlines in Europe. A quick check indicates that Pegasus Airline flies from Rome to either Izmir or Bodrum and there are also other options in Southern Turkey. Just depends on where you want to go. You can also check possibilities from Florence.

You might want to check the Turkish Air website to see what options they offer to get to Bodrum from Italy. I flew that airline out of Rome to Adana via Istanbul in 2009. I don't think they fly out of Florence. If you're planning to go to Ephesus you could also check fares to Izmir a little further north up the coast.
