My daughter and I will be traveling to Europe at the end of September. From Rome we will be going to Germany and are interested in taking the train at night. Any information regarding this would be appreciated.

There is a City Nightline sleeper service departing Rome 19.07 and arriving Munich 06.30. You can check availability and buy tickets on www.bahn.com, but when I checked a date in the last week of September both sleepers and couchettes appeared to be sold out. I didn't check every day that week, but there was some availability on Tuesday the 24th. If you do find any availability then book it quickly.

We took this train a couple months ago. It was great. A couple of things to know. We left about an hour late for some reason, but it arrived on time. Also, there are multiple cars and trains from different companies linked together in Rome. Make sure you are getting on the right one because they do not all go to Munich. They are clearly marked and the conductors will help you but be sure to double check.
