ROME to FLORENCE

What is the best train to take from Rome to Florence for speed train/experience? Eurostar?? Also, how much in advance do we need tickets? Also, is there another stop worth visiting on a Monday from Rome to Florence?
Grazie!!

For speed between Rome and Florence, the fast Eurostar is your best bet. You can usually get tickets day of travel, unless it's a major holiday. Another option would be to take a train from Rome to Orvieto, spend time there and then continue on to Florence. The trains on the Rome-Orvieto-Florence route usually don't allow reservations, so there's no need to buy tickets in advance.

Thank you so much for the info! So, we can purchase Eurostar thru to Florence, with a stop at Orvietto, right? Is that a better place enroute than Sorrento?
Grazie!
