"A ride from either of Rome's airports to the center of the Italian capital can cost twice what it should, with drivers often squabbling over the right to carry apparently inexperienced visitors and inventing excuses not to pick up locals."
I got a private driver two years ago,, cost my dd and I 35 euros flat fee. Didn't want to deal with nonsense and it was worth it to me.
Wish I could recall name,, I'll try and look through my papers,, I often keep names if anyone wants to check it out.
It is a start but a long ways to go.
I've never used a Rome Taxi to/from the airport for these exact reasons. I've always used private drivers that I arrange in advance or I just use the train.
Ive taken a taxi from a hotel to the airport several times.The hotel made the arrangements and since they always deal with the same firm they get good service.On each occassion the taxi was on time and the price was 40e .There is a slight increase if it is very early in the morning.
