help!! we will be diembarking from cruise ship at civitecchi? romes port with luggage and need to get to an apartment on via rodi near the vatican is there a train or bus from the port that will get us anywhere near there? this is our very first trip abroad Is st peters metro stop close? we had been quoted 125Euros each for shuttle transport surely there is a cheaper way to get there any help please

Take the train to the Termini sttion in Rome and take the Subway to the Vatican exit. You have about three long blocks from this exit to St. Peters Square.

It is easy to take the train from the port. We have done it four times. There will be a port shuttle bus to the main gate of the port. The train station is about a mile so it is a bit of walk if you have a lot of luggage. Train ride is less than $5 However, once at the Rome station take a taxi -- the Rome metro tends to be very crowded and having to deal with luggage in the metro is not worth the savings.
