Rome - Hiring a driver for a day?

I'm traveling with my parents and two daughters (5 people total.) We are taking a cruise that stops in Rome for a day this June. I want to make the most of it, so I would like to hire a driver for the day. At $85 per person for transportation to and from the port offered by the cruiseline, wouldn't an Italian like to make the $425? Where would I start to look?

In the past I have read where travelers search google for "Rome driver and car" to find listings of guides.
There will often be comments which will help you make your decision.

Other travelers on cruises NEVER buy the cruise line tours. I have often walked onto the dock and found a tour bus for half the price.

Selene, you will find many drivers waiting at the Civitavecchia dock with whom you can negotiate. Also, if you go to the website cruisecritic.com and to the various sections there, you may find what you are seeking.
