Rome airport to Naples (transportation ideas?)

We are flying into the Rome airport and want to go to Naples? What is the most economical means? We would prefer a train. Can you connect from the airport to Naples by a train or do you have to make a connection?

Without checking the schedule which you can do yourself the easiest would be Leonard Express to Termini and a train to Naples. Buy your tickets when you get there.

Thanks a bunch! I wasn't for sure what to do. I would guess that if my wife was to decide to go to Assisi instead of Naples, the directions would be the same: go to Termini from the airport and catch a train to Assisi? After wrapping up our land travel in Italy, we are going on a cruise. Would I be correct in assuming there are trains that go out to the port near Rome?

Of course, it is a commuter run to Civitavecchia with three to four trains an hour taking between 45 to an hour fifteen depending on the train. It does involve some walking for pack light or have luggage easy to handle. Again depending on the train the price will be less than 10 E. If returning to Civitavecchia buy a RT ticket. The lines to buy tickets in Civit... can be very long if more than one cruise ship is in port.

The fare for the L Express is 11E. There is a slower train that makes a number of stops for 5.5 E. Also, depending on the size of your party, amt of luggage, a taxi or a shuttle can be a better option.
