Rome Airport to Hotel Alexandra...and hotel to port in Civitavecchia

It looks like the hotel car service is comparable in price (little higher) than taking the train. Please let me know your experience/preference with either.
We are leaving the following day on our cruise. The hotel car service to the port seems a little expensive. Not sure of the distance so would appreciate guidance on that also. Thanks

A regular taxi from the airport to the city center is 48 euro. It's a flat fee. So if the hotel car service is a lot more than that, you could go with a taxi. From Rome to Civitavecchia, it's about one hour drive depending on traffic. I'm sure it will cost you at least 100-120 euro. The cheaper alternative is the train. There are several going up the coastal route and stopping in Civitavecchia. The cost vary depending on the train but it's just a handful of euros regardless. Obviously on a train you need to carry your own luggage. Also the walk from the station in CIV to the port is about 1km (o.6 miles), therefore with a lot of luggage it might be a problem (but I'm sure there are taxis).

Barbara, One of the easiest methods to reach Rome from the airport is to use the Leonardo Express. Fare is ~€14 PP and the trip is about 32 minutes, and not affected by traffic. The train arrives at Roma Termini, and from there it's usually not a long Taxi ride to hotels. DON'T forget to validate your ticket prior to boarding the train, or you'll face hefty fines which will be collected on the spot! For the trip from Rome to Civitavecchia, you may find it helpful to have a look at the excellent Ron In Rome website.
