I am going to Rome next week and was wondering what the best way (and possibly cheapest) to get to the downtown area from the airport. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

The cheapest way is the sitbus shuttle for 8E, the Leonard Express for 14E or the taxi for the flat rate of 40E.

It depends on how much luggage and how many people you have. If you can easily carry it, and only have 1 or 2 people, you can take the Leonardo Express to Termini for 14 euro (as Frank mentioned). It also may depend on how far away your hotel is from Termini. Also as he mentioned, the flat rate for a taxi is 40E. (for up to four people). For my husband and I, our luggage was large and it was easier to take a taxi. We did take a taxi from the Pantheon to Termini to catch our train to Arezzo, and it was 10E. 14+14+10=38 so it would have only saved 2E in our case to do the express train instead of the taxi from the airport. We were glad to pay the 40E and take a taxi instead.
