I am leaving, this coming Sunday for a cruise to Italy, from Ft. Lauderdale FL. Rick's book has been a tremendous help with the planning. There is one question, however, which I am having a problem getting answered. It's not in the book nor do the Rail Europe ticket brokers in the US have the answer. After leaving the ship, my friend & I will be touring Italy by train for 10-days. Our first and last stop will be the central train station in Rome. We will have excess baggage from the cruise, not needed in Italy. Will we be able to check our extra luggage at the train station for 10 days, while we travel? Thanks so much for all of your help!

The limit I believe is 5 days for storage. But you can verify at this number: +39 06 4744777 An alternative could be Bon-Bags. I've never used their service but Italians swear by it. http://www.bon-bags.com/sito/

If you're spending any time in a Rome hotel, I'd check if they are willing to hold the bag (maybe for a fee?). I've found folks to be accomidating about this type of thing.
