We will be driving from Beaune to Gimmelwald the first week of October. Are the roads likely to be open? Is there a website or other sources of info on road conditions?

The roads will be open -- but you do know that you can not drive all the way to Gimmelwald don't you? You will have to park your car in Stechelberg and take the gondola up to Gimmelwald.

Yes I do. I debated on which town to list and chose Gimmelwald. The road map I have shows some possible closures, especially when leaving and heading towards Lago di Como. Thanks for your help.

Stechelberg is less than 3000 feet elevation down in the valley floor. Snow and ice should not be a problem early in October. Definitely visit Murren and Wengen while you're there, beautiful mountain villages.
