We are looking to travel in Italy this summer. Has anyone used the rideshare service, Bla Bla Car? If so then were you satisfied that it was safe and reliable? What was your overall experience using the service?
This was the previous thread on the topic, with no users reporting in: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/spain/has-anyone-used-blabla-cars-in-spain. You'll find more discussions of Uber, but we prefer the convenience of licensed taxis and other public transport in cities.
Rome has a new rideshare service, on demand scooter rideshare, driven by male and female scooteristi. Drivers provide the helmet.
You notify scooter by using their mobile App. Information is at

A scooter would be pretty darn awkward with luggage, though.
let's see...
get on a strange bike that may or may not be legal, with somebody I have never ridden with, on cobbkestones and potholes and the infamous Rome traffic, with a skid lid which may or may not save my life provided by the rider - yeah, that sounds like me.
At least in a strange car you have some protection....
