Rick's soft bags on RyanAir?

I'm planning to use Rick's Convertible Carry-on (an older version) and Civita Day Pack as my luggage on an extended European excursion. We will be making multiple flights on RyanAir. If I keep my weight down well within their 10Kg limit, and keep the Civita quite svelte, will I be ok with RyanAir's 55x40x20 cm carry-on and 30 x 20 x 20 cm personal bag limits? I've heard conflicting stories on how they handle soft-sided bags... Has anyone used this combo successfully, recently, on RyanAir flights?

Ryanair staff don't handle the baggage, that's the job of the baggage handlers who are employed by the airport not the airline. How your bags are handled depends on so many factors none of which Ryanair staff have any influence over.

JC....I Don't think the OP was asking how they physically handle the bags but how they deal with the size.

As long as the bag is not full and can fit in the wizer, you will be fine. Remember, it's soft sided. It only becomes the stated dimensions if you fill it up to those dimensions.

I urge you to read the whole Ryanair website closely, if you haven't done so. It sounds as though you intend to have two carry-on bags; it may cost you extra. The airline briefly relaxed its cabin rules so they were more generous than the very strict rival easyJet, where one item really means one. Ryanair pretty quickly retreated to its previous tighter policy.

Thanks for the responses! I'm not concerned about damage to the bags, just that they will accept them if they fit into the baggage sizer box, even though the Convertible Carry-on IS capable of expanding to a size greater than 55x40x20 cm. As I understand RyanAir's current requirements, you can pay extra and have both your 'personal' bag and your 'carry-on' (under 10 Kg) on the plane, but otherwise, the carry-on is automatically checked for free at boarding, i.e. "taken off you, tagged and placed in the aircraft hold free of charge." I can live with that!
