Returning a rental car in Rome

If we rent a car in Siena, is it best to return it in Siena and get private transfer to Rome or is there a good location outside of Rome to return the car? We really don't want to drive into Rome.

Are you allergic to trains? There is an Avis location right by Orvieto station. There is a Regionale Veloce to Termini every 2 hours with 1st class seats for 11.65 euro.

You live in Dallas and you are scared to drive in Rome? I'm disappointed in you.

There are numerous rental offices outside the city center in Rome (with any company you use) which are easily accessible from the freeway without having to venture into city driving. From there then you can comfortably take a taxi to your hotel.

Go to the consolidators www.autoeurope.com or www.kemwel.com, choose the car you want (they mostly work with Avis, Europcar, Hertz) and I will tell you the easiest car return location in Rome to select for that company.

Orvieto is a distance from Rome and the Avis office has closed. Only Hertz is available in Orvieto.

Driving to Rome is really not that bad, especially if you are used to big city, like Dallas, traffic.

Los Angeles has worse traffic than Rome, according to the TomTom world traffic index.
