Reserving seats for rail travel from paris to intelarken

Have purchased eurail passes for our family and would like to reserve seats on a train. The train in question would be a TGV. Can I reserve seats in advance(I realise I will have to pay a supplement for the TGV).And if so what website would I use?

The upside of buying the reservations when you get to Paris is that you will pay the in-Europe price and there will be no fees. The downside is that SNCF limits the number of seats it allocates to passholders. People have reported being told that passholder seats were gone for a particular train even though the train was not sold out and there were standard fare seats available. Since there are several of you traveling together, it would be wise to buy your reservations well in advance.

Unfortunately you didn't come to this website BEFORE you committed to a railpass.

Thankyou for your helpful replies.

From the websites I have looked at(ie TGV-Europe.com)it looks as if we have to actually purchase full priced tickets to ensure we secure seats in advance. There seems to be no option that recognises Eurail pass and therefore gives a discounted rate. This means our eurail pass is of no use. As a family of 4 we don't want to risk missing seats on the train as all accommodation has been booked in advance. Thankyou, Cate

Cate,

Your passes certainly are not useless for this trip!

It looks like you might have missed what Steve wrote so I'll repeat it. If the TGV from Paris is the only train for which you need reservations, buy them at www.raileurope.com. You will pay more than the in-Europe price and you will also pay a shipping fee. If you are going to take several trains that require reservations, buy them from www.euraide.com. For one $60 processing fee you can get as many reservations as you want for as many trains as you want, all at the in-Europe price.
