I was ordering four savings fare tickets from Amsterdam to Cologne on Aug 14th on the BAHN,co,uk website. When I proceeded to seat reservation, I was warned that it was unavailable to reserve. I tried full fare tickers, and it didn't allow me to reserve seats either. I am wondering if I should purchase the advanced tickets now and reserve the seats later (is it possible?). I'll very appreciate any information and advice on this route. Thanks!

I just did a dummy booking on the USA version of the bahn.de site. I could have booked seat reservations with savings fare tickets.

I just tried to book ICE159 on bahn website and selected usa. I bookereserved seats(any) and clicked "proceeded". The same message says that it is cannot offer a reservation for the connection I have selected. The customer support emailed me that the international booking would only open 62 days prior to the 1st day of the journey. Probably I shall wait.

I just tried a dummy booking again and went a little farther in the process this time. Like you, I couldn't book a seat reservation for 14 August. I wasn't able to do it for 62 days out either. If you definitely want a seat reservation, I suggest that you buy it at Amsterdam Centraal as soon as you arrive in Amsterdam.
