Reservations Venice-Rome Train?

Are reservations recommended for Venice to Rome train on a Friday morning early May? We have 1st class Selectpass including Italy; is it worth paying the reservation fee to ensure seats? If it is, we planned to do reservations at travel agent in Venice 2 days prior to travel, comments?

Some trains REQUIRE reservations. The fare for a regular ticket for those trains includes the reservation. Passholders pay a reservation fee. You will most likely be on a EuroStar Italia train for which reservations are REQUIRED. The passholder reservation fee is 15€. You can make the reservation at either a travel agent or a station. Two days in advance is plenty of time.

I'd recommend making the reservation for the Eurostar. 2nd class is okay. Once I years ago I did not know about the need for reservations and stood at least half the way on a slower train.

You will need a reservation to travel on the EuroStar Italia, it is required.
