We are looking at a 4-day Swiss Pass for travel from Basel in to Interlaken and back, as well as a day trip to Zermatt. Will we also need reservations to get seats on Swiss trains, or does hop-on still work here?

Once your pass is validated, you just hop on. Thatis the beauty of a Swiss Pass. What will you do with the fourth day on your pass?

Berner Oberland, perhaps a cruise on Lake Brienz... we're trying to keep things flexible as Zermatt really needs to be during good weather.
