Reservations mandatory

I wanted to thank everyone that offered advise and helped me make my decision about what train to take. I booked my tickets, and have a question of clarification. I booked First Class and it says reservations mandatory but I have already selected a seat. Do I need to do anything further?

Should be. You cannot buy a ticket without a seat reservation. Do you have a confirmation showing a train, car no, and seat number?

Bill, Which train did you book tickets on? If it's one of the high speed trains, reservations are always compulsory, and will be included with the ticket. The ticket will specify your Car No. (Carrozza) and your Seat No. (Posti), so that's sufficient. The Conductor will be looking for the PNR Code, which will be shown somewhere on the ticket. One final point - BE SURE that you board the train listed on your ticket (ie: ES-9718), as if you board a different train you won't have a valid ticket and will therefore be subject to fines on the spot! The train number will be shown on the electronic board, along with the track (Binario) number. Cheers!
